Sandy Bay
An intimate haven set amongst rocky outcrops and bush clad hills, Sandy Bay is just a short distance north of Oneroa village.
The bay is perfect for swimming and for spreading out your picnic on the small grass area provided. For the adventurous, a scramble around the rocky points will reward you with glorious rockpools and tiny private coves shaded by overhanging Pohutakawa trees. There is a boat ramp where boats can be launched all year round. Kayaking and paddle boarding are also popular activities in these calm waters.
Wake up to bird-song amongst the bush and enjoy early morning dips down at the beach. To cap off a perfect day, head into Oneroa or to one of the island's fine vineyard restaurants for a memorable dining experience.
